Title: Lieutenant - Special Operations Section
Lieutenant Tom Kienle graduated from Saint Joseph’s High School in Metuchen in 1996. He went on to graduate from Rutgers University in 2001 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice. He also graduated from Seton Hall University’s College of Education in 2012 earning a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Training and Development.
In May of 2000, Lieutenant Kienle began his law enforcement career as a Class II Special Police Officer with the East Brunswick Police Department. In July of 2000, he was hired and began serving as a Patrolman with the Rutgers University Police Department. In December of 2002, he was hired and began serving as a Patrolman with the East Brunswick Police Department. During his years in patrol, his proactive approach was recognized and he was transferred to the Special Operations Division in January of 2008. While serving in the Special Operations Division, Lieutenant Kienle was responsible for many traffic related functions and received advanced training in accident investigation & reconstruction. In May of 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was reassigned to the Patrol Division to serve as a Road Supervisor. Since that time, he has completed numerous supervisory courses including a Penn State University course for Leadership and Command.
During his career, Lieutenant Kienle has been the recipient of several Unit Citations, a Letter of Commendation, and a Life-Saving Award.
