Two homes, one on University Road and the other on Sherry Road, were burglarized on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, between 6:30 AM and 6:50 PM and personal property was stolen. On University Road, the suspect or suspects appeared to have pried open a window to gain entry. Once inside, an undisclosed amount of jewelry was stolen. A window was also pried open on Sherry Road. In that incident, an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry were taken. In two additional incidents, one on Willow Street and one on Tompkins Road, unidentified actors attempted to gain entry to residences by prying windows open. They were apparently unable to gain entry to those homes. Anyone with information is asked to call the East Brunswick Department of Public Safety’s Investigative Division at 732-390-6944.
The Department of Public Safety would also like to encourage all residents to take the necessary precautions to secure their homes. Homeowners should check to ensure their residence is locked when leaving, utilize any active alarm systems, and secure personal belongings within the home. Most importantly, residents are asked to be aware of unfamiliar individuals in their neighborhoods and report their presence to police. Reports of suspicious individuals are investigated by police and may prove instumental in identifying potential suspects.
