Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School
School officials evacuated the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School located on Rues Lane in East Brunswick at 10:10 AM on Wednesday, 2/07/07 due to a phoned in bomb scare. At that time, office personnel received a phone call from an unidentified male who stated that there was a bomb in the building. A second call was apparently placed by the same individual a short time later and the threat was repeated. All students and staff were evacuated and re-located at the Mega Movies in the Brunswick Square Mall. The students were housed in two theaters and supervised by school officials for the duration of the incident.
Police officers were assisted by a bomb detecting canine from the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department. The search conducted by school and police officials failed to turn up anything suspicious. Upon completion of the search of the school, the students and staff were permitted to return to the building and resume the school day. Also responding to the incident were units from the East Brunswick Fire Department and Trans-Med Ambulance Service. There are no known suspects at this time, nor is a motive known. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sean Goggins at the East Brunswick Investigative Division at 732-390-6965. The incident was concluded at approximately 12:30 PM.
